Rovner to Seek Cohen’s 148th District

Former State Senator Bob Rovner is returning to the political wars.

He's reported gathering signatures on petitions that will place his name in contention for nomination for the 148th Legislative District.

The district, now held by Lita Indzel Cohen, covers portions of Montgomery County including Narbeth and Lower Merion. Rep. Cohen announced recently she was not seeking reelection.

Rovner, an outstanding attorney, who served in the State Senate is well known in both Democratic and Republican circles. He has a reputation as being a hard working candidate and has a proven ability to raise funds.

In keeping with a promise she made to her constituents 10 years ago, Rep. Lita Cohen is stepping down from her job as a state legislator upon the completion of her fifth two-year term in November.

"Ten years ago, when I first ran for this office, I promised my constituents that I would limit myself to ten years, five terms. I have always prided myself in keeping my promises. I must do so now.”

“Therefore, I will not be running for another term in 2002," she said.
