Patrick Murphy knows Philadelphia and its neighboring suburbs must vote en masse for him today to defeat Kathleen Kane in the race to carry the Democratic flag for attorney general.

The race for attorney general could prove to be the most interesting race today in Pennsylvania.

Kane and Murphy have been fighting hard for votes in the Philadelphia-area in the last 24 hours.

Both candidates aired last-minute television commercials this morning hoping to snag the last few undecided voters.

Murphy started the day with his family in Bristol, PA. in Bucks County where he voted at 8 a.m. Kane voted in her hometown of Scranton, PA.

Murphy then set off on a whistle stop tour of the Philadelphia suburbs: stopping at the Firehouse polling station in Montgomery County, and then the Cheltenham Township polling station.

“We feel great, the enthusiasm is out there to have an attorney general who will do everything to keep us safe and to protect our values,” said Murphy at a campaign stop at Cheltenham Township Building, 8230 Old York Road, Elkins Park.

“We have incredible support all across the Pennsylvania – let’s win this thing.”

Murphy then traveled to Northeast Philadelphia where he visited volunteers at a local firehouse, polling stations, and supporters at the Fitzpatrick Playground.

Murphy said he plans on making many other stops in Philadelphia-area before heading to the Famous Deli in Philadelphia for election day lunch. He also hopes the nice weather will bring out voters in the region.

Kane and Murphy are fighting for the chance to face Republican attorney general candidate David Freed. Pennsylvania’s top attorney position has never been held by a Democrat.

Polls close at 8 p.m. tonight.
