Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was in town to accept the International Statesman Award from the World Affairs Council on Tuesday night.
Mr. Blair was presented a crystal bowl at the Hyatt at the Bellevue from World Affairs Council of Philadelphia vice chairman Frank Hermance.
After accepting his award, Mr. Blair told the packed crowd how Senator John Kerry had asked him earlier in the day if would “bring peace to the Flyers and Penguins” on his visit to Philadelphia.
“I told him that achieving peace between the Palestinians and Israelis would be easier,” Mr. Blair said.
The Philadelphia Flyers eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins best of seven series, 4-1.
Mr. Blair is no stranger to Philadelphia – he received The Liberty Medal in 2010 at the National Constitution Center.
Mr. Blair was Prime Minister for 10 years (2 May 1997 to  27 June 2007).  Â
For the last four years, Mr. Blair has served as Envoy of the Quartet on the Middle East.
