New Walmart Store Creates 300 Jobs In Port Richmond

A polish string band greeted hundreds of customers as they entered Philadelphia’s newest supermarket in Port Richmond.

The newest Walmart store, now one of five stores in Philadelphia, located at Aramingo Crossings Shopping Center, 2200 Wheatsheaf Lane is a boon to an area hit hard from the recession.

The store employs 300 workers from the Port Richmond and Kensington area, according to Walmart Store manager Bubba Bohr. “We are really pleased to be a part of the Port Richmond community and it is truly an honor to see so many of our partners, neighbors and excited customers coming to us,” said Bohrs.

Councilman Mark Squilla and Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger joined representatives from Walmart Stores to the celebrate the grand opening.
