LETTER CARRIERS had chosen Phila. as convention site because of its unionized workforce. They were shocked to learn of lockout affecting Teamsters and Carpenters.

CONVENTION CENTER is a massive monolith and SMG, private firm that manages it, plays hardball. But workers united cannot be defeated.

“SHAME ON YOU!” was cry raised over and over at Reading Terminal Market in front of Phila. Convention Center as union workers protested lockout.

METROPOLITAN Regional Council of Carpenters gave unstinting support to Letter Carriers while postal workers convened in Phila., even marching with Letter Carriers to Staples where Letter Carriers are assailing its recent corporate move to compete with USPS in selling stamps.

LETTER CARRIERS are a rather staid labor union, one member commented. Boisterous work actions aren’t often on their playlist. Large numbers of them plainly enjoyed a taste of spirited pro-labor demonstration – especially helping union brothers who had stood up for them.

ONE HARDCORE Philadelphian, Sean Anderson, lets it all hang out Mummer-style as he lets the world know what he thinks about Staples’ assault on Letter Carriers’ union.
Give these guys their jobs back.
