CELEBRATING choices of Democratic N.E. Ward Leaders are party Chairman Bob Brady and Lt. Gov. Mike Stack. Ward Leader John Sabatina’s son State Rep. John, Jr. won nomination for vacant Penna. Senate seat; Sarah DelRicci got go-ahead for vacant State House seat.

Philadelphia Democratic Ward Leaders caucused this evening to endorse candidates for the Pennsylvania 5th Senatorial Dist. and the 170th House Dist. The senate seat opened up when incumbent Mike Stack was sworn in as Lieutenant Governor Tuesday; the house seat was vacated when incumbent Brendan Boyle became a US Congressman.

In a surprise move, Sarah DelRicci was chosen for the 170th in the May primary election. Her husband John had been the name long floated. Others had been pulling for Seth Kaplan, a top aide to Boyle, but DelRicci won unopposed.

State Rep. John Sabatina, Jr. was endorsed for the 5th, carrying the day over FOP President John McNesby by 3 to 2.

All ward leaders vowed unity after the votes.
