The 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show, hosted by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, drew hundreds of patrons to the VIP Preview Gala Friday night at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The theme “Celebrate the Movies” allowed major exhibitors to select a Disney or Pixar film and interpret the mood of the movie in their design. Michael Petrie, who has won international awards as well as annual awards in Philadelphia, chose to interpret Into the Woods, complete with a fog machine and tall, eerie, irregular fenceposts sprinkled among the trees and flowers.
Rebecca Campbell, president of the ABC Owned Television Station Group, flew in from California to speak at the opening ceremony. For f15 years, 6abc has partnered with PHS for the Flower Show, and Campbell at one time chaired the Flower Show committee.
Gene London’s display of about 40 gowns worn by Hollywood stars through the ages also made a big hit.
