Peace Islands Institute gave its Legacy Award to Lt. Governor Mike Stack at its annual awards dinner at the Sheraton Philadelphia on Tuesday night. Lt. Gov. Stack also gave the keynote address. Former Rep. Babette Josephs and Senator John Sabatina each spoke about the accomlishments of Stack before giving him the award.
John F. Smith, III, the board chair of Global Philadelphia Association, received the Global Vision Award. Smith just returned from Peru where Philadelphia was the first American city named World Heritage City. Hernan Guaracao, the founder of Al Dia News Media, received the Success in Media Award, presented by Jennifer Rodriguez, executive director of Mayor Nutter’s Office of Immigrant and Multicultural Affairs. Catie Wolfgang received the Distinguished Service Award, presented by Nutter’s Chief of Staff Everett Gillison, for Wolfgang’s launch of PowercorpsPHL, a successful program which allows ex-offenders to take paying jobs with various city agencies.
