Dear Editor:
I am writing on behalf of the Philadelphia Gas Works from the office of Corporate Communcations. In the Public Record’s Thursday, November 19 publication a photo caption was placed regarding our joint microturbine project with Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. Within the caption it listed our President & CEO as Craig Dixon. That is incorrect, our President & CEO is Thomas E. Knudsen. Thank you.
Thanks for your article today on House and Senate races. However, you missed a major candidate in the 195th house race to replace retiring Frank Oliver. Anthony Ingargiola also filed for the Democratic Primary, and is worth a look.

Thank you for noting that, Kathy. However, we had earlier (Mar. 4) reported Ingargiola’s entry into that race. We apologize for omitting his name in the subsequent (Mar. 11) issue.

Dear Representative Cruz,
If you have not heard of us already, we are the “180th Watchdog Coalition.” (See attached fliers, mission statement, initiatives and programs). To date, we are made up of 478 Members which include students, parents, teachers, and many professionals from the district and far beyond,
We are determined to change the stagnant, deprived, neglected, and dangerous living conditions for the residents of the 180th District once and for all. For the last 10 years that you have been in office as State Representative and representing “We the People” of the180th, we have seen NO positive changes. As a matter of fact, things seem to have gone steadily down hill. These conditions must change now!
What we are asking from you is:
• Secure funding and push for neighborhood patrols
• Address crime in the community by increasing police patrol, creating stricter
penalties for drug dealers, pedophiles, and violent gangs
• Provide more police/increase presence in our neighborhoods as well as build a
positive relationship between residents and the police through a series of
workshops and other activities
• Provide the community with Literacy and GED Programs
• Partner with local food markets, pharmacies, and retail stores to hire residents
that supports these businesses as loyal customers to decrease unemployment
and poverty
• Obtain state/federal funding for existing quality and new grass root after school
programs that is essential to the academic and social growth of our children
• Re-implement extracurricular activities back into the public schools in our
communities
• Implement effective recreation centers in the communities
As community watchdogs, we will be watching all news “press releases,” articles, legislative hearings and voting measures to be sure that you are, over the next 2 years, truly “working for the people.”
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we, the members of the “180th Watchdog Coalition,” represent the people that are no longer willing to settle for less than other communities. The people elected you to do a job and work in their best interests. It is time for you to begin working to fulfill those needs.
You made a campaign statement saying that you have “Many things in the works that you would like to be able to finish.” I sincerely hope they are for community gain and not personal or political. We will not tolerate anything less, Sir.
This is an invitation for us to work together for the betterment of “our community.” If you choose not to welcome our invitation to change the tide of the 180th District, we want you to know that this will not serve you well. The next election will be quite a different story because we intend to keep all of the residents of the district well informed of your deeds over the next 2 years.
We are asking that you do the “right thing.”
Sincerely,
The “180th Watchdog Coalition”

Hello,
Back on June 4, 2010 I sent an e-mail to you asking a simple question. I am still waiting for a simple answer; either, “yes” or “no.” Of course if you were indeed a charitable organization you might expound on either one of your answers (if you had in fact answered my simple query) with a more detailed reason or reasons for your answer.
Below is a copy of my original e-mail for your reference:

Hello,
Is it possible to post a personal ad in your newspaper and if so what are your rates?
I am an old guy (75) trying to find anyone with any information about my father who died unexpectedly in a traffic accident in Atlantic City NJ on June 24, 1952. He lived at 3650 North 8th Street, Philadelphia and left his second wife and two daughters, who would be my half sisters.
If you place an ad of this kind in your publication please let me know by return e-mail. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Mr. Fitzpatrick. Classified ad rates are: 1-15 words = $5, 16-20 words = $7, 21-30 words = $9.50. There are rates for larger “display” classified ads. Email editor@phillyrecord.com if you’d like me to pursue this further with you. — Tony West, Managing Editor

this is not pc but maybe some things to think about for a point counter point 1. what do people normally do who have lost a loved one 2. maybe start a fund to provide services for the poor in their name etc etc what does madd do go on a rampage of hatred which mostly hurts the poor even more build up a profitalbe business so that now the counties are dependent on dui for income and paychecks. wow what an easy way to make money just send the police out to find someone since the liquor freely flows and that certainly has not been stopped drinking is still encouraged with happy hours etc do you think that if they were really concerned about helping people in their loved ones name that they would at least do something like making sure these place have cab numbers available and ask the place to tell people that they need to call a cab and the angry person who calls them in should ask them not to drive or even offer a ride if it is in the neighborhood. do you think that someone who has had 2 drinks over the holidays and drives maybe two blocks and does not harm a fly deserves to go to prison for a year and have her risk herself for rape and beating all to satisfy the hatred of madd i do not think that this is something that the lost loved one would consider would honor them.
also who do the police pick on easy target like the poor women
do you think that it is time to put some brakes on this
